Recorder Playing Rubric

Below you will find the rubrics that I use for assessing student recorder playing. When they send me a recording, I will be keeping the following in mind: rhythm, pitch accuracy, hand position, tonguing/phrasing, and squeaking. Not all of these things are present in the beginner rubric. At first, we focus on correct notes and rhythms, and using correct hand position (left hand on top!). Then, in the intermediate rubric, we add squeaking. In the advanced rubric, tonguing/phrasing is added.
