The Lines and Spaces

A teacher friend of mine once told me,

"When the clef is G, the bottom line is E."

This means that when we see the g clef at the beginning of a line of music, the letter name of the bottom line is E!

Any note head that has a line going through it takes the letter name of that line.

As we go up the staff from line to space, we move forward through the music alphabet, which consists of A, B, C, D, E, F and G! After G, you simply start over with A. I have color coded the lines to help you.

In between the lines are the spaces. If a note head is inside a space, it takes the letter name of that space.

Now that you have learned a little bit about the lines and spaces, lets see how you do with the following two games! Keep trying until you get them right! If you are having trouble, ask me or a friend for help!

You can also try Treble Note Names!
